Diversity on Display at Ullens
Embracing the motto of promoting multicultural awareness
and understanding, Ullens School celebrated the Annual Diversity Day on
Thursday, 15th September 2010 in School's playground. Also marking
the Children's Day, the day's activities included spectacular musical and dance
performances by students of all grades representing a very wide range of
Nepal's diverse ethnic and regional groups. Such performances included Kumari
Dance, Tharu Dance, Tamang Selo among many others, and instrumental folk tunes
where students played different instruments.
Attended in large numbers by parents and relatives of the students, the ethnic attires and a lunch with multi-ethnic cuisine added to the vibrant celebrations of unity in diversity. Each class of students performed a class parade in their ethnic attires and presented the ethnic composition of the member students.
Principal Medin Lamichhane highlighted the need to respect and appreciate the incredible diversity that we have and to formulate curriculum and learning environment in classrooms that are open and friendly to students with varying socio-economic and ethno-religious backgrounds. He stressed that Ullens has successfully developed a learning environment that caters to the needs of students with different backgrounds.
