Journalism Club
at Ullens School

Objectives:
- To create a mechanism in school
through which it becomes interesting for children to engage in creative writing
and journalistic writing and have their work featured on the website, printed
in the forthcoming school year book as well as school newsletters or local
newspapers and magazines in the days to come. The idea is to support students
in writing reports, stories, poems, essays etc. which when published will reassert
the quality of education and the support to student initiatives at Ullens
School.
- Create an environment for students to work as a team, with students from other grade levels and get the opportunity to assume leadership roles and fulfill commitments.

Who are the leaders of the Club?
All of the club members are leaders in the sense that they are accountable to write or collect student reports for various activities carried out at school as well as in making sure pictures are taken for the activities.
How do you become a member?
Voluntarily by declaring an interest and showing ability, which will be assessed by Homeroom Teachers and other students of their class. So far, 2 students per grade level starting at 6th grade are a part of the club.
How often do they meet?
Once a week outside regular class hours
How will their work be accredited?
Authorship, photography and design, layout work will be duly acknowledged. Students will receive a certificate from school at the end of each year acknowledging their participation, membership and/or leadership role in the club for that particular year.
What Outputs do we expect at the end?
- Student leadership and organization skills
- Improved writing skills
- Improved photography skills
- Design and development of concepts
- Regular contribution to reporting and reflections on school activities to go online
- Development of first Ullens School Year Book before IB 2 graduates in June, 2011
