A Request for Contribution

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Based on recent reports, the transportation strike coupled with low food supply has left thousands of people in the western hilly districts of Nepal at the edge of a major food crisis. The most severely affected district is Accham. More than 65,000 people from 35 VDCs are suffering, among them the poorest and the most marginalized are hit the hardest from the soaring food price, and access to emergency aid is limited.

In order to fill the gap between government response and long term solutions, we can contribute and help those who are the most vulnerable. Ullens School will start a Food Relief Campaign this week. We are collecting donations in the form of cash or kind from teachers, students and parents. We would appreciate if you could contribute and support us in our endeavor.

We are planning to partner with some local development agencies to immediately distribute food among the affected families especially those with small children, the poor and the marginalized groups.

Interested parents / guardians are requested to send the donation (cash / kind) to respective class teachers/ home room teachers with your child latest by Tuesday, 19 August 2008 to the school.
